Digital Citizenship
Digital citizenship focuses on what is considered to be the norms of appropriate and responsible behavior with regard to technology use (Ribble, 2015). As the use of technology increases, especially within the business and education sectors, so does the need to address various issues that arise with use, abuse, and misuse of technology. A structured set of rules have been developed to teach technology users what is/is not appropriate technological behavior. There are nine elements of digital citizenship that cover a range of topics that make up the foundation on which the digital society is based (Ribble, 2015).
